Leadership was also an issue with this project. At the very least, our meetings might have been more efficiently and effectively conducted had their been a group facilitator for each meeting. The facilitator would have ensured that each member had a turn to speak, and worked to help clarify any questions that others would have about any person's ideas. Furthermore, a group facilitator would have also ensured that everyone's ideas were acknowledged by others (even if they weren't shared by others), and encouraged less vocal members to voice their views. Moreover, a facilitator would have helped our discussions stay focused, mitigate too much group discord, and work towards reaching a consensus. Clearly, our meetings were disorganized, and having a facilitator to set the agenda for each meeting would have been beneficial. To further encourage more participation by all members, switching facilitators each meeting might have been a good idea. This would have been a good reinforcement for ensuring that everyone played an active role in helping the group come to a consensus, as well as giving them the opportunity to lead.

wetpaint, leadership issues
In addition to what has already been said, I think we could have been much better organized with the wetpaint site. We didn't have a clear division of labour when it came to specific areas of the site, and assigning different areas of responsibility might have encouraged more active participatory behavior. I don't feel everyone was equally active with the wetpaint site, and this also contributed to the difficulties we had as a team. For example, were all the management style articles posted on the site, being read, if not browsed through, by each group member? Was everyone's work on the site read before each meeting by the other members to help better prepare and formulate questions for group discussion?

FEEDBACK
What difficulties we faced in the project?
1. The technical problem: Like Msn account set up, internet connection.
In the first meeting with France, we waited for a France member for 30 minutes, because he had to go to Macdonald’s for the internet and apply a new msn account. Also during our meeting, some people log off the meetings because the internet connection. However, we have to tell the members our discussion again when they came back. It is a problem that procrastinates out meeting time.
2. Time problem: Like time difference and set proper meeting time that everyone can join. I think the time difference is not a big problem. We arranged our meeting in 1PM-American time, 10PM-France time. It is the available time for both sides. However, it is so hard that everyone can join the meeting. I remember in once meeting, there was only one France member join the meeting. Before the meeting, we only received one France member’s email said that he can’t join. We didn’t ask the reason why they didn’t join the meeting. We just asked the only one France member where are they? Can you help us to call them? In my memory, they seem had a midterm in that time. This is maybe the reason why they didn’t show up. They can tell us before the meeting time, we can make some changes, but not just waste time to wait other that didn’t show up.
3. Organization problem: I think in France team, there is no leader that we can really talk to them. Every time when we made decisions and want somebody to tell everyone in France team, we have nobody can choose. We just use Email and hope they will receive the email. It is a big problem that they don’t have a leader in the France team. It makes things more difficult.
What did I learn from the project?
1. Communication: Everything starts at communication. Without communication, we can’t finish the project. Good communication can help the team works well and let everyone what our next steps and goals are. Communication is a way to negotiation. Negotiation plays an important role in the teamwork.
2. Organization: A company want success must have good organization. It works in a team project. In the project, I think our American team has a good organization. But in France side, I don’t know how they work in their organization. If both sides have good organizations, it can help the project work well and success.
How can we do better in the project?
1. Good organization.
2. Good negotiation
3. Good interaction
4. Everyone is responsibility
5. Everyone is efficient and effective.

My feedback
The process
First, I thought it might not be so difficult to complete this project, because I thought we could just separate the project into many parts and then distribute the jobs to each one. That’s simple and easy. But after two times of discussions, I realized that was totally different as what I thought.
In our first discussion, it was so wasting time and only got a little conclusion. It was so inefficiency. And we also decided the tasks everyone should do before next meeting.
And in our second discussion, I was surprised because only one of them showed up without any notices. And the task we should do during the first meeting and second meeting had been ignored. And after a long time discussion, we got another conclusion again, and that was everyone should create a story and potential problem the manager will face and also a solution for her before next week’s meeting. And we would combine all of them and finish it.
But in the last meeting I was so surprised that they didn’t do the story and Lili wanted to do the story online at that time. I was so upset because I thought we could just combine everyone’s story at that time and finish our project. And I think the works what we had done were meaningless because we redistributed tasks again and the deadline was very close.
Finally, we have our project done in time.
The problems we faced
I think the culture difference is the biggest problem because sometimes I thought we have consensus with them but in the end I found that they didn’t think of the way I think.
And I think compare Asian people with western people. I realize that if you give Asian people a task with vague definition or no detail description, they would still definitely give you some outcome. But to western people, I think if you don’t give them very clearly about what they have to do, they wouldn’t do it.
And in my opinion, if someone has some ideas about how to do our project or how to distribute our project I would just follow it and I would not have any opinions about it. But I think this doesn’t work in American.
And I think the reason why we always take so long in discussion is because they like to insist their own opinions. I think it is hard for western to change their mind to agree with the decision different from them. And although sometimes I might not want to agree with them, I will finally accept with them to finish our discussion more quickly.
What I have learned
Frankly speaking, I felt very upset and sometimes very angry during the process of this class.
But I think I learned to express my opinions and feelings to others, and it is not quiet usual in Asia. And I also learned that culture different really matters in many ways. And how to adapt culture difference and accept it is a big issue for me.
Therefore, this class really influences me a lot, and makes me think things in different ways. And also notice me that don’t be so arrogant because I always think my opinion is always right. And I really feel this is a very unique experience to me.

Thank you~
The first thing I want to say is thank you everyone's cooperation. Without everyone's help, the wetpaint project can not success! I think we have a big success on wetpaint. We have to overcome many difficulties such as the time differences, culture differences, variety personal opinions, and such else. Then we made the outline conculsion about "outsourced". Collected the useful informations and combined in the wetpaint. Although we didn't like other groups finished the wetpaint project so fast, we completed the wetpaint project almost in the last minute. However, we still achieve a big success. We had communication between each other, and we also had debates with each other, But in the really world, it is just like what we did now. Anyway, the last thing I want to say is thank you everyone. It is very nice to meet you in my MBA's life. Thank you. Arnold Hong
